It is suggested that newspapers are
still the best source of information. Do you agree or disagree?
Along with the rapid technological advancement seen
on current living standards recently, people put more attention on which is the
most reliable source of information. It is suggested that newspapers are still
the best source of information, which I strongly disagree for the following reasons
below.
First of all, it is irrefutable that somehow most
news written on print media are more reliable as compared to articles published
online. The reasons are that before information are being released to the public,
they undergo several process such as editing, proofreading and printing. This
method would make sure that the veracity of information are checked not only by
few people but also limits the occurrence of deception or bias. Newspapers may be
reliable but not convenient for both publishing companies and clients. The publication
process is too tedious and costly. As a result, more people choose reading news
on the internet over buying printed media.
In addition, the internet played a more marketable
role in terms of updating the people of the latest news or current events. It
had presented headlines, stories or articles in a more exciting fashion. People
could now watch videos and marvel of photos that support the veracity of these
issues. Moreover, before the advent of the internet and the only way to read
news was through newspapers, information seems hard to understand. Readers have
to imagine and need to be proficient on the medium of language used. Currently,
the public does not have to do that. In fact, they could just look at photos or
watch videos and smoothly get the main content of what is being articulated by
the reporters on the internet.
Taking everything into account, although I believe
that newspapers are one of the important sources of news, I still feel that the
internet is the most effective tool to gather news and information.
