PHILIPPINE TOURISM
In
the past, the Philippines have been listed as one of the best country to visit
across the Asian continent. At present, this nation is still waving its banner
in the arena of tourism owing to the explosion of globalization in the recent
decade.
The
Republic of the Philippines has sown major changes that undoubtedly, helped
propelled the economy. Such boom of the country’s wealth has stemmed from the
gargantuan contributions from the revolution of information and technology,
trade and commerce, tourism and others. In this essay, however, the writer aims
to present an emphasis to the growing tourism business in the country.
Seventeen
years ago, it cannot be denied that there have been numerous spectacular
uncharted territories in the motherland. Also due to the threat posed by some
rebel groups in the country, this has led to a declined in tourism. Those that
are frequently visited by foreign tourist are just the prominent ones and those
that are safer to visit such as El Nido in Palawan, the perfectly coned-shaped
Mayon Volcano, Rice terraces in Banaue and Boracay to name some. Little was
known that as an archipelago nation, there are diverse package of traditions
and cultures and more scenarios waiting to be unraveled. Nonetheless, despite
the slow paced transition of tourism in the pearl of the orient seas, it saw a
continuous incline as recorded from an official government document. Clearly,
ten years from the beginning of the new millennium, there was a massive influx
of people coming from different countries probably brought about by the
trending social media and to include, a firmer security implemented from the
government. From the highest mountain peak, to the depths of the sea, the
Philippines surprisingly offer a range of attractions which attracted more
people from the four corners of the world.
Aside
from the unbeatable beauty of the country, the natives themselves have also
contributed to the boosting of tourism. It has always been asserted that generally,
Filipinos carry the emblem of being hospitable. With such characteristics, tourists
are accommodated well and are made sure to exit the country satisfied. In
addition, their ability to communicate well to the foreigners may it be spoken
or gestures have worked well to both parties and ended the day with mutual settlements.
Moreover, those are just the well-known features of a Filipino. A lot of
foreign visitors would agree with the observation that Filipinos treat other
people incomparable of the money paid for the visit for they are willing to
take extra mile. They exert effort to please the visitors with the desire of
them to come back again. This could mean that there is hope to continue with
the employment.
In
relation to the aforementioned, as evidence, many locals have been given
employment due to the popularity of tourism in the country which in turn became
a god source of income. Some natives of Kabayan and Sagada maintain their positions
as tour guides because apart from the enjoyment, they experience while accompanying
tourist, their salaries could also sustain their daily needs. It provided them
a reason to invest with their knowledge of their own place and also served as
an avenue to interact to people of different nationalities and even fellow
Filipinos.
In
summary, these are the general pattern observed by the writer in the realm of
Philippine tourism industry. It is only the nature that captivated countless
visitors but the inhabitants also have been a priceless factor in the business.
All in all, the rising trend of tourism is believed by the author to continue
only if the government will ensure safety, continue to preserve the attractions
and people will remain as Filipinos. These three I believe will determine the
future of the Phillipine tourism industry.
